Thing #23

The example I saw that Learning 2.0 for teachers blog is based on someone else's work is that we have to take a little from each website to finish our assignment. Now that I about this law as a teacher I will watch what I take and use from the internet, but will also look for opportunites to collaborate my ideas with others.

thing #22

Teacher resources

The three titles for my binders were Teacher resources, classroom conduct, and teacher's of today. You can use livebinders in your classroom for multiple things such as lesson plans, teaching ideas, or just simply stuff you found interesting you want to use again. Livebinders can be very helpful to teachers because you can simply get on the internet and go back to what you were doing instead of lugging around a book bag full of lesson plans and activities.

Thing #21

Try our slideshow creator at Animoto.

Using Animoto was very simple and user friendly. I think the website is put together very well and can be operated even by people who aren't computer friendly. This website is something I will use in my future for fun and in my profession.

Thing # 20

Youtube is a very useful website that can help in almost any situation or job. Youtube allows people to not only hear, but also to see what they are watching too. You can find a video about almost anything on youtube. This allows information to be easily found for teachers in their work enviroment. If videos were added to anything on the internet it would make it easier for people to understand because when people see how things work, they tend to understand them better.

Thing # 19

While having to do this exercise, I became a member of Teacher Pop. I had no clue about this website prior to this assignment. I found it to be very useful and I will definitely use it more in the future. It is a good way for teachers to be able to communicate and share ideas. It is a very beneficial website and I believe that any future teacher should join Teacher Pop.

Thing #18

It is very benificial for teachers to know how social networking works. Social networking definitely has its problems , for example bullying, but alot of good can come from it, too. I have both a Facebook and a Twitter so I am not new to either of them. However, finding out how many teaching tools are on each website has been very interesting and helpful. I do not see any problems with either website, other than the fact that children are more easily bullie through them. I thought Facebook had the most useful features just because its easier to communicate and you have a lot of people on the Facebook page.

Thing #17

When I went on Delicious, I saw a lot of websites highlighted that we had already talked about in class. I saw BrainPop, Wikispaces, and many more that I had seen in class that I found very helpful. It was a good website for those who have a lot of websites that they like to refer back to. I was glad that I got make an account for this 23 things assignment because it is a good tool for a teacher to have and will be using it to make finding websites, that I want to show my students, easier.

Thing #16

i choose the igoogle home page because it was the simplest to use and i also use google as my homepage. This homepage i customized to fit what i look at the most like a calendar, weather, and youtube videos. This homepage can be very helpful because it has everything on one page instead of having to navigate on to other pages to find information you normally look for. Online calendars can be useful because the School systems are trying to get away from using written out lesson plans and are trying to go to more computer based lesson plans in which you fill out in a calendar. A calendar could be helpful to see what lesson plans you have on what day and what activities you have planned for that day. A to do list can be used just as the calendar except you can use it to mark off what you have gotten done and see what you still have to do. You can use to do lists in the classroom to see what students have accomplished as class goals. The calendar i found to be the most useful tool for teachers because you can write down your schedule for each day and teachers could use it better because then you would eliminate forgetting your lesson planner at home.

Thing #15

I found Wiki to be very interesting because with technology becoming more and more involved with each generation entering the workfield it could be a very useful tool in almost any job field. In the education field, teachers and students could use. Teachers could use it for ways to teach or to simply talk about simple problems they are facing. Students could use it to help other students that are struggling with homework or could use it for a group type project. I found wiki interesting because you can go in and edit anything about the blog and make changes as things occur, so nothing is set in stone. You can use this everyday and update it as needed.

Thing #14

I chose the mind map as my tool. The mind map was easier for me to understand and use because i like to write all my thoughts down before starting on something. The mind map is similar to brain storming ideas before you write a paper. I would use mind maps in all different types of scenarios in the classroom setting. mindmeister.com was a great website to help make a mind map. The flow chart seemed harder to use because not all things are going to have a sequence order of events.

Thing 13

Students could use Google Docs to work in a group type setting, by this they could individually work on certain part of the project and post what they have done. Each group member could then see what they have done and put their work together to make the project. I prefer the Google Docs site because it seemed more user friendly for people of all ages. It took too much signing in and passwords to use Zoho. Google allows you to use their Google Docs site after you created an account with Google.com. The Google Docs site also was almost like using Microsoft Word so it was a easier to use than Zoho. Students in my opinion would find Google Docs easier to use because most everyone is fimilar with using Google as a search engine. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PClQkbd2-zwMDdhhbRWRTgR5to9odQQUEPhRcAmcIMo/edit#

Thing #12

Thing 12 really opened me up to a lot of resources that I did not even know existed! These tools are so helpful and each one of them could be very useful in the classroom. The one that I liked the most was the translater. I thought it was good because it could be used to help teach and communicate with an ELL student.  I also liked the calander. It is a good tool to help you  keep organized and you can make a calander for your students easily with this resource. It was very helpful I thought.

Thing #11

The method that I found the easiest was Google blog searcher. I believe the reason I found it so easy is because, for one, I use google very often and I know how to navigate it. I also brought up very many results and all you have to do is type in a key word. The most confusing of the sites was the Technorati. It was pretty hard to navigate at first, but once you get used to it it becomes easier. I did not really know how to search the topics at first. The most useful site that I found, for myself being an education major, was Edublog. It basically showed all of the best blogs for teachers and education major. Each site was a very helpful way to find blogs, but my favorites were the google blog search and Edublog.

Thing #10

RRS was a really awesome website. I had no clue about this website before but I will defineitly be using this alot. The thing I like most about RRS was how easy it is to navigate and how easy it is to make an account. It took about two minutes for me to figure everything out and get my five blogs subscribed. This will be helpful for school because it is a way to save websites that I may need to reference to later; all you have to do is log into your account and you can go right to that website. RRS is a really good way to keep teachers organized especially with all the websites and blogs that teachers access these days. I will have to use this when I am a teacher because I tend to be a little unorganized at times. I can't wait to use RRS more!

Thing #9

I picked this picture because, first off, I love John Lennon. Second off, I absolutely love this quote. It shows how wonderful the mind of a child can be and how their out look on life is so positive. I also really love how it switches back and forth and the hearts change colors. This is just a really great creation.

I made this one on the Happy Face Generator. I really liked this website because it had a lot of different smileys that you could pick from. I picked this quote because I truly believe that a smile is contagious! I will definetily be using this quote in my classroom.

These websites will be really good for me when I get my own classroom. They will be good for power points and other things that need graphics. These are just a little bit of fun to add to the classroom!

Thing #7

I thought flickr was a really good website. I had already browsed it for thing 5 or thing 6, I believe, I can't remember which one. I think it is a fairly easy website to navigate and use. I went to the tagged topics and looked up, Autmn. I wanted to find a picture from this section because it is my favorite season. I enjoyed getting to look at all of the other frequently tagged topics also, like christmas, the beach, etc. There were some really awesome pictures on this site and I really do enjoy browsing through all the pictures. For some reason the site will not let me post the picture on here so below is the link to the picture.

Thing #6

The site I used from the Web 2.0 list was Flickr. Flickr is a site that allows you to upload your photography and it also lets you upload HD videos. I really liked this website alot because it is so interesting. I liked the site because, for one, it is a good way to get your photography looked at, if you are in that bussiness. It said that over 5 million people use this tool so just imagine how many people look at your pictures. Another thing that I liked was it has a blog portion also. The reason I liked this so much is because now that I have learned alot about blogging, I really think it is a good tool that every website should take advantage of. This website has a lot of storage that allows the user to put many photos up. You can even get more storage than normal if you pay $2.00 a month. That is not bad at all, especially if photography is your job. This website is easy to navigate and easy to sign into. It also has an app for the iPhone, which is very convinient! At the bottom of the home page it has the worlds most interesting photos. It was really cool to go through and look at all of them. The thing that I liked the most about this website was that it had privacy settings, so you can choose who gets to look at your photos. There was one thing that I didn't really like about it was that the videos can only be a minute long. That, to me, was the only down fall about the site. I really think it would be a good tool for the school library to look into. It would be a cool way for students to do projects and it would especially be a helpful website for anyone taking any kind of photography class. The students could upload there photos on the class onto to a Flickr account and they could all look at each others work, not just the teacher. It is a really usefull website and so interesting! I can't wait to get one and I would recommend it to anyone!

Thing #5

One of the articles I read was Web 2.0: A Guide for Educators. I thought this article said everything well. One thing that I really liked that it said was that the internet has gone from "passive to active". I never really thought of it that way but that is a great way to put it. Instead of giving you a fixed amount of information, the internet is now ASKING you to write your oppion about the information. It said that the websites like Facebook and Twitter, etc. are becoming second nature to kids, so it only makes sense that we would have kids learn some information on these social networks. It also talked about how flexible typing is instead of writting.

To me, School 2.0 means, not neccisarily having an all online school, but just including online activities like blogging, discussion boards and all of these other things into the cirriculum, and maybe even adding cirriculum online.

In the future, I believe that students will be even more technologically advanced than they are now, and maybe all of their cirriculum will be online. For example, each student could be issued an iPad to do their work on instead of writting it down with pencil and paper.

Thing #4

Now that I think about it, commenting on someone elses blog is a good thing. It is a little positive reinforcement and lets the blogger know that someone is actually reading his/her blog. If people never posted comments to others blogs, then I don't think blogging would be as big as it is now. People aren't going to keep blogging if they think no one even looks at what they post. It just gives the blogger confidence to keep doing what they're doing when they know someone cares.

Another point I think is also, a good thing is replying back if someone comments on your blog. If people see that you actually take time out of your day just to let them know you see what they are saying, they will want to come back and read your blog again. They will know that their oppions are being heard and not just over looked. I think it is great to point out that it works both ways. Commenting is also a way to draw attention to your own blog. If people like what you have to say about someone elses blog they might even want to follow your blog.

The 5 blogs I chose out of our group were Jasmine Richardson, Rebecca Sloffer, Erin Beifuss, Kayla Satterly, and Lenora Clark. I chose these blogs to comment on because when I read them, I basically agreed with everything they said. They were all very interesting and fun to read.
The two outside blogs that I chose to comment on were "101 cookbooks" and "Racked"
I chose these because I am always interested in food and fashion. The "101 cookbooks" had so many great reciepes! I can't wait to go on there again and look up more! The "Racked" blog was very interesting because it had all the newest fashion trends and the latest news in the fashion world.

It is always easy to speak your mind about something your passionate about so I found myself just typing and typing and not even knowing I had said so much! It's great to be able to speak your oppion about the things you like to talk about.

Thing #3

Creating this blog is going to help me out tremendously. If I have problems understanding something in class, then I can refer back to other studentst blog and see what they did. Also, it lets you express your own oppinion and I like that you can have discussions with other students by responding to their blog. So far this blog has been a good expirience and I cannot wait to use it more in the future.

Thing #2

When posint my display name I picked Ms. Littleton, because it didn't show my full name but it still had my last name in it.

When I was creating my blog, it took me a while because I am not really good with computers. However, once I got going and followed all of the steps it was very simple and easy to do. It made me feel like I was actually learning something about computers, which is a good thing because I need to learn all I can about them!

I thought creating my avatar was the funnest part. It doesn't look like me completely, but it will do. It resembles my personality because I always love to wear bright colors and my hair looks almost the same.

Thing #1

When I listened to 7 1/2 things I noticed that I have most of these habbits, but some are harder to use in the class room than others. The easiest habbit out of the seven and a half would probably be creating my own "learning tool box". The best way for me to learn is to get my own routine and methods down for each subject that help me rememeber the material. The hardest habbit for me to use is having confidence in my self when it comes to answering questions and taking tests. I am always second guessing my answeres which is a really bad habbit of mine. Most of the time my answers are right, but it would just be less stressful for me if I had more confidence in myself.
